Bio

Solo, chamber, and concerto performances on the eastern and western coasts of the United States. Performances in Kilbourn Hall, McKintyre Hall, The Mount Baker Theatre, and Benaroya Hall. Recital programs have featured works by Beethoven and Brahms, J.S. Bach's Goldberg Variations, 24 Chopin Etudes, Stravinsky's Trois mouvements de Petrouchka, programs of music by French composers Couperin, Debussy and Ravel, and music from Spain and Latin America by Albéniz, Ponce, Villa-Lobos and Piazzolla. Received recognition for performances of Rachmaninoff's 2nd and 3rd piano concertos. Solo debut with Bellingham Symphony Orchestra (formerly Whatcom Symphony), concerto performances at Eastman, additional performances with Skagit Symphony and Philharmonia Northwest. Chamber performances with Seattle Metropolitan Chamber Orchestra. Experienced composer, collaborative pianist, organist, and teacher.

Competitions: national finalist in composition competitions, named one of three concerto competition finalists at Eastman (surpassed graduate students during sophomore year), national chamber music competition prizewinner, additional solo competitions won with performances of music ranging from Bach and Mozart to Prokofiev and Ligeti.

Conservatory education in piano performance from the internationally renowned Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York. Lessons at Central Washington University with John Pickett (a student of Irwin Freundlich), lessons at Eastman with Rebecca Penneys (who studied with Arthur Rubinstein, György Sebők, and multiple students of Leschetizky), lessons at Western Washington University with Jeffrey Gilliam (a student of Cecile Génhart). Additional lessons and/or masterclasses with Seymour Bernstein, Stephen Beus, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Malcom Bilson (fortepiano), Sarah Davis Buechner, Nikolas Caoile, Christina Dahl, Steven Doane, Catarina Domenici, Stephen Drury, Sean Duggan, Oksana Ezhokina, Leon Fleisher, Douglas Humpherys, Gilbert Kalish, Peter Longworth, Nicola Melville, John Milbauer, Daniel Pollack, Paul Roberts, Joel Schoenhals, and Eduard Zilberkant.
